Each student is unique and deserves a classroom where they will feel safe, be encouraged to learn, grow emotionally, develop socially, and achieve intellectual greatness. I desire as an educator to see students go above and beyond what they believe capable. I believe that by fostering lesson plans that target student interests, students will develop a natural aspiration toward learning. Children learn in many different ways. Some kids learn through lectures and by taking notes, while others may benefit from group projects and hands-on activities. A well rounded classroom offers options and a variety of learning styles, for every student has their own individual strengths and weaknesses in the classroom. It is the student’s role in the classroom to support one another on their journey. By developing an individual pace, students are able to see where they are at and how they can improve. Students develop skills of leadership, communication, and active listening and are challenged to use them every day in class.
It is the teacher’s role to provide each student with accurate and honest information when a question arises. In class, the teacher serves as a leader, nurturer, and friend. It is important for the teacher to use discipline with dignity when problems occur by addressing the situation, taking immediate action, and resolving the issue with understanding and firmness. A child needs to understand the cause and effect of their actions without feeling shameful, but to look forward on how to improve in the future. By spending equal amounts of time working with the class as a whole and with individual students, the teacher is able to monitor each child and provide individual support wherever the student may be on their road toward learning. I plan to bring global awareness into my classroom by incorporating current events into my lessons that motivate the students to go into the world and make a difference. By seeing beyond stereotypes I will glorify the differences among my students. I will teach my students to see one another as brothers and sisters and what it means to love. I will teach my children to never judge one another for their money or their worldly belongings. I believe that we as children of God were not given everything to enjoy life, but we were given life to enjoy everything. The relationship between the teacher and the parents, teaching colleagues, community, administration, and students is very important to the functioning of the classroom. Collaboration is possible through a mutual level of trust and respect.
My goal for my students is for my students to leave my classroom with a smileevery day. I strive to express my joy for learning so that they will develop their own delight in class. Through a well-planned curriculum, I strive to bring information that strikes interest into the students that fosters their own curiosity.
